Green Wire Ground Ceiling Fan

Depending on your fan the wire can either be green or copper in color.

Also avoid using it as the neutral wire despite connecting to the same bus at the main panel. The ground wire carries displaced electricity away to reduce the risk of electrical shock if let s say the metal parts of the ceiling fan or any other appliance or part attached to your electrical system becomes accidentally charged. There should be two white wires from the ceiling fan kit and one from the box third connect the two green wires from the ceiling fan kit to the exposed copper wire with a wire nut. If you had a red wire coming from your ceiling it is hooked up to your wall switch.
