Hardie Board Over Vinyl Flooring

Here is my concern.
Hardie board over vinyl flooring. The backer board is only as secure as the vinyl below it so make sure the vinyl is laid down tightly. Current flooring surface is 3 4 plywood subfloor one layer of lino over that and then a layer of 12 12 lino tiles over that. Most of the vinyl flooring i have seen done up here is over particle board. Good luck installing tile over that.
The linoleum makes the mortar harder to adhere properly if it was left in place most tile manufacturers recommend you to use backerboard screws and mortar to ensure it is properly installed taking the linoleum out gives any moisture a better escape route since vinyl is essentially blocking the subfloor. The lino tiles are in pretty good shape none popping loose. The problem isn t with the mortar sticking to the vinyl it is what is under the vinyl and how well it is stuck down. For best results remove existing floor covering especially if it is in poor condition again reading the installation.
Attach the backer board to the floor using self countersinking screws such as backer on screws available at the home depot. Use a notched trowel to apply thin set adhesive to the vinyl flooring. Screw down any loose area into the subfloor with 3 4 inch drywall screws. 3 lay out the backer.
Lay the cement backer board on the floor while the thin set is still wet. Hardiebacker cement board may be installed under or over vinyl composition tile vct and other resilient flooring. For best results remove existing floor covering especially if it is in poor condition. Apply adhesive to floor.
I d like to lay down 1 4 hardibacker and then. I have since decided to install vinyl sheet flooring. Hi i expected to install tile on my bathroom floor so i installed cement fiber board. Hardiebacker cement board may be installed under or over vinyl composition tile vct and other resilient flooring.
